ORGANIZATIONS
Groups that are challenging housing segregation and gentrification
The Office of Civil Rights (King County)
The mission: to eliminate unlawful discrimination(on basis of Race, color, national origin, ancestry, disability, gender, parental status marital status, religion, Section 8 housing subsidy, sexual orientation and age) through education, mediation, and enforcement that is responsive to a diverse King County.
Focus on Fair Housing: enforcing fair housing ordinance which prohibits unfair housing practices in the rental, sale, or financing of housing because of a person's protected class.

Solid Ground (Anti-Racism Initiative)
The mission: to address institutional practices & policies that prevents the full participation of people of color in our society.

They believe that the mission of creating a just and caring community free from poverty, prejudice and neglect, we must address the systemic issues that keep people poor — and racism is one of those issues.

Urban League (Metropolitan Seattle)
The mission: to empower, enable, and assist African-Americans, other people of color, and disadvantaged individuals to become self-sufficient through public advocacy.
Safe, habitable and affordable housing is a basic need. The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle (ULMS) Housing Department provides direct service programs and resources to individuals and families who lack knowledge, understanding, and access to pertinent financial education that can result in home ownership.
